New generation CRP adsorbers Implementation period May 2016 to September 2018
The project aims to clinically test new indications for the use of CRP apheresis. This should lead to new markets for pentracor (market preparation). These new indications may require modifications to the existing housing.
The current housing is designed to regenerate the adsorber during treatment. However, this technical possibility is not available in all countries. The reason is the sophisticated pumping and monitoring system (secondary separation unit) which is required for this process. In order to increase the number of possible users, we therefore want to design a CRP adsorber with sufficient capacity, which does not need to be regenerated during a treatment.
The aim of this project is to develop new adsorber housings for various indications and to establish a manufacturing process for them. It is important to be able to vary the housing size quickly and easily in order to produce adsorbers in different sizes.
Besides the first indication of heart attack, the PentraSorb® CRP can also be used in other indications. In order to find out which patients are best suited for these indications and how often apheresis must be performed, pilot studies are to be carried out.
The aim of this project is to prepare and conduct pilot studies for the indications pancreatitis, stroke, rheumatism and postoperative SIRS after bypass surgery.
The content of this project is the marketing of the results of the studies. Marketing includes above all scientific marketing, i.e. the production of professional articles and lectures at congresses. Furthermore, symposia at congresses must be organised and carried out and opinion leaders must be involved. Marketing activities also include participation in trade fairs (e.g. Medica), participation in industrial exhibitions at congresses and training of distributors who will take over marketing in other countries.
The aim is to make existing data known to the public, to demonstrate the benefits of PentraSorb® CRP and develop new target groups.
